HI!

I'M FAWKES

I'm an autistic, queer, disabled, therian artist based in Scandinavia.

I’ve been doing art since I could hold a pencil, but more so seriously since 2019.

My heart is set on colorful emo dogs, cringey critters of the feline variety and forest-dwelling friends of all shapes and sizes - my love for the natural world bleeds into everything I do.

I am truly passionate about creating, deeply dedicated, diligent and devoted to whichever project requires my attention, now the center of my existence. Structure is an essential part of my well-being, and so, I am highly organized, logical, and systematic.

I am always eager to learn and advance my skillset - and I am a firm believer of individual growth via community. Reflecting in, and conversing with fellow artists, and sharing feedback and critique has easily become one of the tools I respect and value the deepest when it comes to expanding and growing as an artist - but also as a person.

Although, I’m like the stray dog at your local shelter - I need a bit of time to warm up. But once I get to know you, I am as loyal and hardworking as any hound!

Due to my shy nature, I mostly work alone - but I wholeheartedly enjoy working in packs from time to time on larger projects - collaboration and co-creation is awesome!

WORKFLOW

WORKING AROUND DISABILITY

I am physically disabled and struggle with mental illness.

This affects the continuity of my work, and the speed of which I get things done. I have ups and downs as physical pain and psychotic episodes surface, then fade.

I go through periods of extreme productivity and fruitful labor, where i crunch through work as if it were a bag of sour-cream chips - then crash into complete lows, where creating is almost impossible. I push through these lows fueled solely by my stubbornness, but although I work twice as hard as usual, the workload I complete in such periods is underwhelming - and if things are especially bad, nonexistent.

However, I put great honor and work into reaching my deadlines when the situation demands and staying transparent to the very best of my ability, so we can work around and plan ahead. Due to said disabilities, I may occasionally be a slow worker, but my enthusiasm is unwavering, and communication and check-ins will stay continuous. Thank you in advance for your patience!

EXPERIENCE

I am an art student, wrapping up my three-year study as a VHF student at The Animation Workshop whilst typing.

From here I have experience with classical drawing, and a broadly spread skillset within the vibrant world of art and filmmaking, although I specialize in digital cartoony fauna and their surroundings.

Parallel to my studies I work freelance and have been doing so for five years. This involves taking commissions for custom art and being in touch with all kinds of people. Along the way I have learned a thing or two about customer service and business practice, that have proven valuable in collaborative and work-based situations. I am used to receiving feedback, critique, and notes, and communicating with a client or employer to reach their desired product. Their satisfaction has always been of the utmost importance for me.
